Every product in the Untamed Soul range is named in honour of someone who refused to accept the boundaries and limits that society put on them. This pullover is named after Junko Tabei who shattered the glass ceiling of the world when she became the first woman to summit Mount Everest in 1975. Standing only 4'10", she was frequently told by men that she should be at home raising children instead of climbing mountains, and she even survived being buried by a massive avalanche during her historic ascent.
Beyond her physical feats, Junko was a pioneer in environmentalism, spending her later years advocating for the protection of mountain ecozystems from "high-altitude junk." We remember Junko for her quiet defiance and her refusal to accept the limits society placed on her body and her gender.
