Every style in our Woven Winds range takes its name from a woman who changed history, a nod to the legendary Dhaka muslin fabric once called “woven air” for how it seemed to float on a breeze, the same fabric family as the double cotton gauze in this dress. The Amrita Dress is named after Amrita Sher-Gil, a pioneer of modern Indian art who painted the everyday lives of the women around her and lived a fiercely independent, bohemian life between Paris and India.
